Module Description
Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Engineering is one of the ten modules offered in our NITTP approved training programme ESG Empowerment Series – Environmental 101, a comprehensive curriculum that covers three key environmental categories.
*To be eligible for a NITTP subsidy , you must register for all 10 modules and achieve a minimum attendance of 70% across the training hours of all modules (see the table in Programme Structure and Outline). Upon meeting these criteria, you are eligible to apply for a reimbursement of up 2/3 of your course fees, subject to NITTP approval.
Module Highlight
This module will cover the following topics:
• What and why of IAQ management, the definition of acceptable level (i.e. Good Class and Excellent Class)
• Sick Building Syndrome, Legionnaires’ Disease and buildingrelated illnesses
• Factors affecting IAQ and related mass balance equations
• Government IAQ objectives, control measures, and technologies
• Discussion of different IAQ parameters including CO2, radon, particulate matter, VOC, formaldehyde, ozone, combustion pollutants, microorganisms, and disease transmission
• Pollutant sensing technologies, ventilation systems, and their applications in IoT on indoor air quality control
• Air cleaning technologies, filter mechanisms (e.g. diffusion, interception, impaction, thermophoresis, coagulation, etc.), and performance indicators such as CADR, air cleaning effectiveness
• Thermal comfort – EPD recommendations, thermal comfort zone, draught, PMV and PPD.
